Welcome to Our Toddler Program at St. Matthew's Weekday School!
At St. Matthew's Weekday School (WDS), we understand that the toddler years are a time of incredible growth and discovery. Our Toddler Program is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children aged 18 months to three years can explore, learn, and thrive.
The WDS Approach to Early Learning
At WDS, we believe in a play-based approach to learning. Our Toddler Program focuses on hands-on, experiential learning that promotes cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Through play, children are encouraged to explore their interests, express themselves creatively, and develop important skills such as problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.
Our goal for children in the Toddler Program is to foster a love for learning and a sense of curiosity about the world. We support their overall development by providing a rich and stimulating environment that encourages exploration, independence, and self-discovery.
Your child will have fun socializing and interacting with their classmates and friends in a supportive and nurturing environment. Through group activities, playtime, and guided interactions, children learn important social skills such as waiting, turn-taking, and communicating with others.
We put a big emphasis on nurturing and supporting each child's individual needs and interests. Our experienced and caring educators create a warm and welcoming classroom environment where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn at their own pace.
Our Toddler classroom is thoughtfully designed to support the goals of our program. They are equipped with age-appropriate materials and resources that encourage exploration, creativity, and independent play. Our low teacher-to-student ratio ensures that every child receives individualized attention and support. We offer a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the interests and abilities of young children. These activities may include sensory play, processed-based art experiences, music and movement activities, outdoor exploration, and more.
A typical day in our Toddler Program includes a balance of structured activities, free play, outdoor time, snack time, and rest or nap time. Our daily schedule is designed to provide children with a predictable routine while allowing for flexibility and spontaneity. Our toddlers can get MESSY as we introduce a large variety or materials for them to explore.
